Does anyone know anything about what you need to open a new car dealership. From net worth to money down. What you may need before contacting the car manufacturer, my uncle is interested in opening a new car dealership as a retirement project, has money so finances aren%26#039;t an issue, but would like to know what exactly you need to be worth and what all needs to be done before contacting the manufacturer. He doesn%26#039;t want to look stupid when asking questions. His retirement payout is large (many investments) so this wont exactly be a business investment, but more of something to occupy his time. Any help is appreicated. Thanks.
Does anyone know anything about opening a new car dealership?
It depends on the manufacturer, how much to invest, how much should be net worth.
However, manufacturer will ask for following:
1. Net worth able to meet all expenses including vehicle stock maintanance, manpower cost (initial), reserves for future expansion.
2. Your perspective for the product for which you are taking dealership.
3. Your previous dealership(if any) status, your expertise in business currently running. Its financial results.
4. Your skill to identify the market for the product and your ability to generate business.
*Your showroom/workshop%26#039;s accesibility to the customer (Some manufacturer want showroom in the heart of city while workshop in downtown or far from city)
*Space for expansion, adequete display,
After these intial screening:
5. They may interview you and make an analysis of your overall criteria as listed above
6. Next will be deployment of fixed assets like land for showroom, workshop, customer rest room, spare part stocks warehouse and stock yard for vehicle stock upkeeping and maintanance.
7. Later on you will be asked to provide quality manpower that can handle customers, technical manpower who can handle service issues, fault findings and manpower who can handle spare parts inventory (material management)
8. After above all, you need to provide basic infrastructure like phones, cables, internet, computers, furnitures. (All these will be as per manufacturer%26#039;s recommended specification strictly)
9. You need to implement Corporate Identity Programme at your showrooms, workshops and related premises that will clearly reflect manufacturer%26#039;s identity, brand and logo. Even the visiting cards of you and your staff will be as per manufacturer%26#039;s specification.
10. All of the above can be covered in a single contract document or in the two or more stages.
Hope above information would be found useful, more quaries are welcome.
