We purchased my car in my dad%26#039;s name (so he could finance it) years ago in Louisiana. I have since gotten married and moved to Tennessee where I need to transfer the title to my name so I can register it in the state. Can anyone direct me on where to go?

First off have your dad sign the title over to you on the back or front of the title where is say name of purchaser or buyer. You%26#039;ll also need him to sign an application to transfer title form that can be found at this site:

Both you and him will need to sign the title and the application.

Check with TN dept of revenue for full details, but it shouldn%26#039;t be to hard to get done.

Oh make sure that there is no lien holder on the title and if there is that the lien has been properly released or sign off as paid in full. If it hasn%26#039;t been sign off as paid in full you%26#039;ll need to obtain a release of lien from the lien holder in order to ge things finalized

Have your dad sign over the car and transfer the title to you. Then you will need to go to the TN DMV and show them that so that you can apply for a TN title with your name on it. After you get that done you can then get that car registered in TN under your name and get insurance. When I got mine transferred from my mom from a different state I got everything done on the same day at the DMV.

your dad needs to sign the title to you. then you take it to your court house in your town. they will file to get a new title sent to you in your name.
