Does anyone know how to refinance a car in your name? I need to, but I have no credit...?

About two months ago, my car [that I bought from a private owner-didn%26#039;t have to be financed] broke down, and so I decided that it was about time to look into a new one. I went down to the car dealership [with my mother] and picked one out. I planned on having her co-sign on it for me but it turned out that together we didn%26#039;t make enough to finance it so we called my stepdad and instead of putting it in mine and his name, we put it in his and her name. Worst mistake of my life. They use it as leverage against me [like they%26#039;ll take the keys if I don%26#039;t do what they say]. I am now looking to move out of their house and they told me that to do so, I had to refinance the car in my name or I didn%26#039;t get to keep it [keep in mind that I AM making the payments, paying the insurance, the gas... everything in that car is there because I personally paid for it]. So I need to know how to go about refinancing the car in my name [with no credit] so that I have transportation to and from work.

If you have money you can put down on the loan, they are more likely to refianance it.

The good news is, it%26#039;s in their name. You can tell them to keep it and shove it where the sun doesn%26#039;t shine and it doesn%26#039;t affect your credit at all. Let them make the payments. Take public transport to work, save some money up and go buy another car.

Edit:

If there%26#039;s no public transportation where you live, you could do what I did once. Pay someone you work with to give you a lift. Give them enough to cover all of their gas for the week each week with a little extra. As much as gas is, even if you live a little out of the way, they won%26#039;t mind doing it. You%26#039;d be paying for gas anyway if you had a car, but you%26#039;d be able to save money that you%26#039;re not making as a car payment for a new car.

Auto finance is what I do for a living and unless your income has come up a lot since your mom and step dad first financed the vehicle, you will run into the same problem you had the first time, you will not budget for the payment or you simply do not make the minimum amount of income required by the lenders.

You might need to buy something much cheaper that you can just pay cash for.

The good thing I see is that the car is not in your name so if your mom and step dad don%26#039;t let you have it, they will have to make tha payments or their credit is going to be ruined when the lender repossesses the vehicle.
